Goals

Here’s something to jostle your idea about goals:

Don’t set goals just because you think achieving them will make you happy.

Oh, it can feel really great sometimes, but research shows us that we are terrible at predicting how we will feel in the future. It turns out that goals serve a much more important role in our lives. Goals help us focus, and focusing, even on something that doesn’t necessarily mean a lot to us, almost always feels great.

Learning how to set inspiring goals is fundamental to making a life you believe in, and these articles are dedicated to helping you craft goals so you:

  • Stay motivated.
  • Learn how to find Flow in every task you do.
  • Embrace failure as you learn new things.
  • Achieve your dreams.

See how goals fit into the Pilot Fire Simple System for Everything.

How about ‘Just Not Do It?’

“More gas. Gas. Gas-gas-gas-gas-gas!” The engine quit without lurching this time. “You need much much more gas when you’re letting out the clutch. Much more than you think.” She turned the key and the engine obeyed– once again. There were some parked cars that made checking for traffic from the left a little tricky. It looked

Do You Know Someone Who Needs a Kick-Start?

I’m sure you know someone, maybe it’s you, who has a dream that needs to get off the ground: building a career or a business, making a new life after a big change, or just getting noticed at work (for your awesomeness, not that other stuff). Do you even know how to get started? Or

Is Comfort Bad for Us? Is Facing Our Fears Always Good?

There, there, Baby. Snuggle under this cozy blanket with a trashy novel and a hot cup of cinnamon tea. I’ll put on some Enja in case you feel like dozing. Isn’t that nice? What’s that? Oh don’t worry, I won’t tell anyone about the Enja. I like comfort. It feels great, by definition, but there are plenty

The Key to Making Them Wait

As you know, I love the Reuben at the Blue Fig, and I love the people that work there, but the other day the owner Shirene was away, and the place was a mess. Brimming with chatty customers out for lazy eats on a Saturday morning, it seemed half of them were complaining. The woman

What Worked for Me

I’m taking a risk asking this because there aren’t many of you to ask, so please take 10 seconds to answer this simple yes-or-no question: Is there something big that really matters you want help doing? If yes, then please click here and write “Yes” in the comments. The problem. As you may know from my Plan
