Your Best Shot at a Great Year
Not all plans are created equal. And if you’re like most people, you’ve made your share of bad ones.
A bad plan sets you up to fail hard or, worse, focuses your attention on an overwhelming, ever-growing list of tasks that keep you from enjoying the best things in life. Bad goals become measuring sticks for your future failures.
A good plan, in contrast, is a powerful force for change.
A good plan is an articulate reminder of what’s most important to you because when daily life takes over, we tend to leave the really important stuff behind.
A good plan is the love letter written to you by the Pilot of your life.
A good plan is the beacon through the fog of doubt.
A good plan is the best place to start and the best place to return
A good plan gives you your best shot at having a great year.
As we enter this annual season of planning, think back on your track record with New Year’s resolutions.
So often New Year resolutions crumble or the onslaught of obligations overwhelm your best intentions. You can easily lose your grip on what’s most important to you, and worse, lose a sense of who you are.
On top of that, setting a goal and letting it go unrealized can eat at your self-confidence, perhaps even your hope in the future.
Fortunately, Pilot Fire has created a transformative in-person experience to change all that.
The Great Year Workshop is a powerful way to organize your life, set realistic goals, and take meaningful productive steps right away.
Held live, on Saturday, January, 24, 2014, it’s your best shot at having a great year.

The Great Year Workshop will be held live face-to-face in San Francisco on January 24. You and a small group of focused, smart, caring humans will gather to craft our 2015 plans for a Great Year with the guidance of skilled and compassionate leaders.
During this day of training and discussion you will connect to your dreams and begin to design a viable path toward a life you believe in more every day.
How often do you get concentrated time removed from everyday distractions?
The Great Year Workshop is the retreat where you can pause, reflect, and craft your plan.
Come Learn from Extraordinary Leaders
Money, Love, Vitality, and Creativity are the core fires of a life that burns bright and strong. This year I’ve invited some of my most inspiring role models to help us all pay better attention in these areas. I can’t wait for you to meet them.
Money
When I first met Susan Bross, a Financial Counselor and Coach of 20 years, my wife and I were in conflict around money. After working with Susan, we became collaborative masters of our money and never worried about credit card bills again. (I know. This is extraordinary.)
Creativity
Peleg Top is a dear friend and a seasoned Career Coach for creative professionals. He recently reinvented his life, relocating and reassessing everything. Peleg knows very much how to realign goals to invigorate the work you do in the world.
Love
Author and Therapist, Susan Pease Gadoua and I agree it’s our leadership in shaping relationships that makes or breaks them. Her long studied insights on redefining marriage and divorce give us a fertile foundation for inventing and re-engaging all of our relationships.
Vitality
I met Yogini Charu Rachlis 20 years ago, and when I first offered my courses to college students, I knew she’d be perfect for them. I know no one else better to model a relationship to personal Vitality, the energy we must all nurture to gives us energy to do everything else in our lives.
Putting it all together with Pilot Fire.
I’m David Delp, Creative Director at Pilot Fire. This is my 9th year leading and refining the exercises in this workshop with friends and students. The system I teach puts Love, Money, Vitality, and Creativity at the forefront of every decision you make. You will learn the Pilot Fire Simple System for Everything, exploring different roles you play in your life and how to use them to set powerfully motivating goals for the year that carry your priorities into your weekly and daily planning process. I may just get you to sing with me, too.
My students have some fabulous stories to tell. They are beautiful, honest, and inspiring, and you can hear them here:
What, exactly, will we be doing together?
This event offers loads of heart, mind, love, fun, and practicality. We will play games, write, collage, stretch our bodies and brains, and make lists. Good lists.
You will:
- Reflect on the past triumphs and struggles, and leave them behind.
- Deeply connect your vital roles, even your shadow roles.
- Articulate your dreams and the goals that help you touch them.
- Learn how to keep your customized plan alive and useful.
- Connect to lasting inspiration from our loving, skilled leaders.
- Reinforce your accountability with your amazing peers.
- Have fun!
There will be time to share and get feedback, ask questions, learn tactical ideas, and receive the support you need for the difficult decisions.
You will leave with:
- A plan for the year built around Love, Money, Vitality, and Creativity
- Tools to prioritize your lists to touch your dreams, every week.
- Group of new supportive colleagues.
- The means to stay accountable to yourself and each other!

What people are saying about the Great Year Workshop.
“This may sound funny, but working with David’s system I actually discovered parts of myself that I didn’t know I had. Put another way, David helped me unpack the different ‘roles’ I play in my everyday life including the underlying narratives that influence everything from the way I teach English to the how I feel about myself at the end of the day. And, after showing me these facets of my life, David provided a unique set of skills and tools for integrating them back into the whole person, helping me find a greater sense of flow by staying focused on what matters most at any given moment.
Throughout, David was responsive to all my concerns and insightful enough to quickly design and customize exercises for me that were relevant and productive. Best of all it was really fun.”

“Your seminar has really helped me achieve several goals in my interpretation business. It got me to plan out the steps I needed to take.
“Your seminar is one of the best ones out there! Thank you David, for enhancing the quality of life of your friends and clients, as well giving us the tools to successfully pursue our dreams.”

“Working with a startup company, my wife and I moved several times in a few years and I traveled a lot. Life became a continual business trip. I was pretty good at fulfilling immediate commitments at work but felt very lopsided. I was losing touch with the world outside my work.
“After witnessing the fanfare and even seeing David Allen speak, I decided to try my hand at Getting Things Done, which was helpful but focused mostly on execution. It didn’t help me prioritize. It felt like a PC, with lots of features and capabilities, but no integrated use model, no soul. David Delp’s Pilot Fire is the Mac to the David Allen PC. It is a simple elegant system that works at a human level, and this helps me get the right things done.
“Thinking more in depth about the roles I play in my life, why those roles are important to me, and what I aspire to be in those roles provides a clear filter for understanding what actions to take. Plus as a teacher, David isn’t afraid to ask hard questions I might rather gloss over.
“I use the Pilot Fire system to focus my day and add a broader range of actions to my week. Even if I miss a day or two, the simplicity of the system makes it easy to pick up and get focused again on purposeful living.”

Satisfaction + Effectiveness Guarantee
I’m very confident this workshop will make a big positive difference in your life, but before you put your money down, put your mind to rest. Here is a double guarantee. First, if you put a fair amount of effort into the workshop and do not feel the course gives you what I described, you get your money back.
And beyond that, if you don’t also feel more clarity, confidence, and actual progress toward making a life you believe in, you deserve your money back. This is a good-faith assessment on your part. The bottom line: I don’t want to take your money if your effort + my teaching isn’t effective.
The only request I make is, if your efforts aren’t paying off, you let me help you get back on track. If after that, you are still either unsatisfied or not experiencing the benefits described, please take your money back along with my gratitude that we both tried.
