It’s time. Take a courageous tiny step into the air. Join the Pilots of Pilot Fire.
It’s a new social network that I invented! Starting now and over the next few months I’m launching some very simple software tools to help you make a life you believe in. The first tool is called Big Really and I want you to try it out right now. I swear it’ll take you less than five minutes.
Why we don’t do the important stuff
There are three main reasons, among others, why we don’t get to the important things.
- We don’t pick one thing to focus on.
- We don’t know the next small steps to make progress.
- We don’t have any help.
The Big Really tool is designed to help with all three. Here’s how.
3 Easy Steps
Step 1. Set up your goal. Just click the Get started button or go to bigreally.com. You’ll answer a couple of very simple questions about something Big that Really matters to you.
(Please note: Something that matters to you qualifies as big. It doesn’t have to be big in anybody else’s perspective, but it has to really matter.)
Within a minute you’ll be asked to set up an account. You can trust that I will never ever ever ever ever share your information without your explicit permission. Go ahead and sign up and confirm through email.
Step 2. Jot down your next steps. Once you sign up you’ll be asked to write the very next tiny step toward you goal. Make it really the next tiny step. After that, type into the Next Steps field another step. Hit return and type another. Just keep typing till you have a bunch of steps. It doesn’t have to be perfect. This is your Don’t Yet list— things you need to do, but not yet.
Now choose 2 or 3 or 4 of these steps that need your attention sooner than later and drag them up into your Do List. See? Now, you have a simple plan to get you moving toward your goal.
Step 3. Ask for help. This takes less that 30 seconds to do. Just click the Ask for help button and choose whether you want to share on Facebook or Twitter or through email. Add a little note, choose the step where you want help or ask for help with your whole Big Really goal and share it.
When people start offering help, accept them and form a little cadre of helpers to support you, suggest ideas, maybe do a few things for you, and give you crap when you aren’t keeping up with what you said you’d do.
You can always go in and add steps and edit them and rearrange them, and there’s a log where you can keep people up-to-date. As you complete steps, they show up in your log with a check mark. Doesn’t that feel good?
A few more hints
This is your profile so add a photo and name your roles. You’ll notice there are some Pilots that have videos where they are wear pilot goggles. You can add a video too, but you don’t have to. The main thing is to start building your plan and asking for help.
Finally it’s time to go help somebody else. You can even do this without a goal of your own. Click on a photo, search for pilots on the homepage, or just browse these beautiful people and find one who has a project to which you can offer something. Click that Offer help button and get on their team. It’s not a commitment. It’s a show of support.
